A pivotal moment came when I entered a maze in the first night and came out with the "Endless bag of gems" artifact, which gives you mana crystals (or fame, depending on a dice roll). I reset it and changed my hero to the purple one (can't remember her name), and this game went much better.
It was one of those games of MN that just kind of slogs along, and it became pretty clear I wasn't going to win when the first city hadn't even been uncovered by the beginning of the third day. It's funny, since his strength is around recruiting units and using influence, but I never seemed to have the cards I needed whenever I was near a site where I could add units. The skills are just too weird, and I wasn't too excited about Krang's unique action cards as well. I played a game last night with Krang, who I didn't particularly like. Mage Knight is still pretty new to me, but it's appropriate for this list, since it's been one of the top solo games since I was just a wee lad of 30. One of them I met when she was in Amsterdam, we kept in touch and two years ago we started our own board game news website Solitaire Times. There are many friendly people here in the 1PG. Anyway, if you're interested, I wrote a post about it: Finding my haven. I am glad there are so many soloable games these days, as I am a restless person, always looking for new things to try. I can sit alone in the quiet and focus on one thing. It is an important reason I play solo board games though. Whenever I visit a doctor, they find something new. My name is Jaap Willem, or JW, and I live in the Netherlands.
